Emma - Mentor

About me

Before joining JHF, I worked as a Supported Housing Officer for a youth homeless charity which proved to be an interesting and varied role. I enjoyed working with young people, many of whom had complex needs. Since having two children, my career changed direction, and I became a self-taught gardener, which allowed me to work and raise the children. Alongside this, I volunteered for a local charity supporting families with children under five years old.

Why team JHF?

I love the child-centred ethos of JHF, aiming to meet children and young people’s needs as individuals. Young people have so much potential, helping them to reach their aspirations is something I am passionate about. Having joined JHF in December 2020, I am very much looking forward to starting my mentoring journey and meeting the JHF team.

Things I love

Come rain or shine I love being outdoors; in the garden, out for a walk or exercising. I need to get my daily dose of fresh air! I enjoy most sports, my top three being rugby, surfing (which mostly entails me floating around on my board) and snowboarding. On Sunday afternoons, I am often on my mountain bike trying to keep up with my eldest son on the trails.
