Our stories

“I’m so proud to be working with such a wonderful team, supporting families in our community.”

Gabrielle, Trustee Chair

“The JHF meets young people exactly where they are and as mentors we get to see them grow and progress and often, surprise themselves with what they can do.

Small triumphs each week can lead to big changes. I hope that what my mentees gain most from our time together is a few hours where they can be themselves and feel listened to. I have enormous fun working with my mentees and it’s a joy to be a part of the JHFs mission to do just that.”

Sarah, JHF Mentor

“I find working everyday with JHF as a mentor very rewarding and fulfilling and I would highly recommend this career choice to anyone wanting to work with young people.”

Mandy, JHF Mentor
“You might wonder what a mentor is. There are many variations and definitions but the one that I connect to most is “someone who helps another reach their full potential” and I have the honour of doing that with some of the children in my home town who need this type of experience most. And I can tell you this with all sincerity.
The joy felt when you watch your mentee walk away from your last session with renewed confidence , new levels of emotional intelligence, happiness and with a smile on their face ready for the next phase of their journey cannot be described in the words available to me.
This is why I am a Jhf mentor.”
Craig, JHF Mentor
