Rachel - Mentor

About me

I am a busy Mum of three teenagers, born and bred in Clevedon! Before Children I worked for a large multi-national company and although I met many wonderful people, I knew it just wasn’t for me. When my children were small, I volunteered at their primary school and loved it. I was encouraged by one of the class teachers to retrain as a Learning Support Assistant, I took up the challenge and completed both grades 2 and 3 and at the ripe old age of 40 something I retook my GCSE maths – and passed with a grade 5!

Why team JHF?

Through friends, I had heard many wonderful things about the JHF and the positive impact the charity has had on so many young people and their families. I was aware of the effect that the covid pandemic had on so many young people. I knew mentoring was something I wanted to do – and the rest is history!

Things I love

I am lucky enough to be surrounded by my family and friends and love spending time with them all. I spend a lot of time at Clevedon Rugby Club, watching my children (and occasionally) my husband play, I also help in the kitchen feeding the players. I love baking and can often be found in the kitchen listening to loud music whilst attempting to make elaborate cakes. I like to keep fit by running and I have recently joined a new Ashtanga yoga class, which I love – it’s harder than it looks.
