Kathryn - Safeguarding Assistant

About me

My son was diagnosed with ADHD at age 4. Due to his struggles starting school, I began to feel that there was a lack of understanding and knowledge in supporting children with behavioral disorders. This led me to leave my job as a hairdresser and qualify as a Teaching Assistant. I then dedicated myself to courses in disabilities and Childhood Trauma and volunteered within schools to support children and their families.

Why team JHF?

I joined the JHF in March 2019. On first meeting the team I knew straight away that I would enjoy and flourish working within such a passionate, driven, knowledgeable team. Being a Youth Mentor really is a privilege and I really enjoy doing the best I can to support children and their families to have gain confidence, happiness and resilience to ensure they can reach their full aspirations. Since 2020 I have supported the Programme Team by assisting with our safeguarding practice.

Things I love

I love visiting new places, and sharing new places with my family. I love learning and finding new ways to help others. I really enjoy being creative, my favourite thing to do in my downtime is to draw and paint.
